Registration opens for the HSA’s one-day seminar: Animal Welfare During Transport and Slaughter – Hot Topics 2024

Registration has now opened for the Humane Slaughter Association (HSA)’s one-day seminar: Animal Welfare During Transport and Slaughter – Hot Topics 2024. The seminar, will be held on Saturday 26 October 2024 at Norton House Hotel, Edinburgh, UK.

The programme includes a wide range of topics including advice on the Head to Heart (poultry killing device, the use of Nitrogen foam for depopulation, livestock transport in cassettes from islands to mainland, temperature-controlled transport of poultry, alternatives to CO2 stunning for pigs, and guidance on slaughter of farmed fish.

There will also be legislative updates on two-legged catching of poultry, live exports, and farmed fish, updates on HSA international projects, and an overview of the AWC Scotland abattoir survey. A chaired panel discussion will follow the presentations.

Charlie Mason, HSA’s Technical Director, said: “We have a great lineup of speakers for this year’s seminar covering a diverse range of topical issues and the latest technical and scientific developments in transport and slaughter. We encourage attendees to take an active part in the panel discussion, ask questions, and make the most of this opportunity to network with other industry professionals.”
