New online guide available
25 May 2016
The HSA has produced an online guide to electrical waterbath stunning of poultry which is aimed at those who perform various hands-on tasks with live birds as part of the poultry slaughter process and are therefore having a direct impact on the animals’ welfare at that time.
The online guide is a source of information for anyone working within the poultry industry who wishes to have a better understanding of bird welfare during pre-slaughter handling, the theory and the practice of using electrical waterbaths to stun birds and how to effectively bleed birds once they are stunned. It can be used as a staff training tool for those undertaking proficiency qualifications in poultry welfare at the time of killing. You can view and download the online guide here.
