Animal welfare during transport and slaughter – hot topics 2024: a one-day seminar highlighting current issues and latest developments

Topics will include:

  • two-legged catching of chickens up to 10kg;
  • update on banning of livestock exports for slaughter;
  • guidance on slaughter of farmed fish;
  • alternatives to CO2 stunning of pigs;
  • updates on HSA international projects.

 Other topics (subject to confirmation):

  • provision of local and private kill facilities in Scotland;
  • welfare of livestock being transported between islands and the mainland;
  • poultry transport in high temperatures;
  • welfare in commercial fishing.

 A chaired panel discussion will follow the presentations.
